LOOK: Jaxson Dart Shows Off Wheels in Ole Miss Scrimmage
OXFORD, Miss. -- Jaxson Dart continues to impress this spring for the Ole Miss Rebels.
The quarterback has been bragged on by his head coach as one of the most improved players on his team's roster this offseason, and he showed one of his underrated traits in Saturday's scrimmage: his mobility.
Ole Miss football shared a video of Dart rushing for a touchdown on a designed quarterback keeper on Saturday afternoon.
Dart's arm was likely what attracted the Ole Miss coaching staff to bring him to Oxford, but he was a vital part of the Rebels' rushing attack last season in Lane Kiffin's offense.
The quarterback was third on the team in rushing in 2022 behind running back tandem Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans with 614 yards. As noted above, Kiffin has spoken highly of Dart in the midst of a quarterback competition with transfers Walker Howard and Spencer Sanders.
"The offense is ahead of the defense, which is probably what you would expect with a new scheme on defense," Kiffin said in media availability on Tuesday. "Very pleased with the quarterback production, leading with Jaxson. He's had a really good couple weeks and was really good Saturday."
Is Dart on pace to put the two competitors behind him and re-secure his starting spot in 2023? If his physical and decision-making skills continue to improve, it's certainly a possibility.
