OXFORD, Miss. -- College football is (sort of) officially upon us.

Fall camp opened for the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday morning, and while Lane Kiffin's team won't take the field for an actual game until Sept. 2 against the Mercer Bears, the month of August will see the start of the season for some schools in "Week 0." Until then, however, Ole Miss is in preparation mode for a difficult schedule, but fans may have noticed a different detail about the Rebels when they took the field on Wednesday.

A season ago, Ole Miss wore 12 different uniform combinations for the first time in school history, and they donned one of their alternate lids to open practice on Wednesday. Take a look below.

The Rebels wore this particular helmet design twice last season: in a win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and a loss to the LSU Tigers.

There are a multitude of storylines for the Rebels as they enter fall camp, one of which is the quarterback situation. Signs seem to point towards Jaxson Dart remaining the starter in 2023, but transfer options Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard along with freshman Austin Simmons are in the room as well.
