Ole Miss vs. LSU Keys to the Game in Week 5
The Magnolia Bowl did not go the way of the Ole Miss Rebels in 2022. That much is certain.
The 7-0 Rebels suffered their first loss of the season in an embarrassing fashion at the hands of the Bayou Bengals, falling 45-20 in Death Valley after opening up an early lead on the road. This season, however, the Rebels get the LSU Tigers at home, and they will look to avenge last season's loss to Brian Kelly's team.
This week, The Grove Report will preview the Rebels' matchup against the Tigers, providing a look at both sides of the football as well as giving early game predictions. We have taken a look at the Tigers' team as a whole, their offense and their defense. Now, let's take a look at the keys to the game for both teams.
Ole Miss wins the game if...
...it can contain Jayden Daniels and be balanced offensively.
Daniels is the true definition of a dual-threat quarterback, really hitting his stride at the midway point of last season. As the Tigers' leading passer and rusher from a season ago, stopping him will be paramount for Ole Miss.
On the other side of the ball, the Rebels, of course, will have to feed Quinshon Judkins, but they will also have to be efficient in the passing game. Jaxson Dart threw for over 200 yards in Baton Rouge a season ago, but he also threw a costly interception. If his development continues in a positive direction, he will need to have a solid game under center this season.
LSU wins the game if...
...it can get to the quarterback and see a strong game from Jayden Daniels.
It stands to reason that LSU's keys to the game revolve around preventing the Rebels' keys from coming to pass. Can the Tigers get to the quarterback, and can their quarterback have another big day? Those will be the deciding factors for the Tigers picking up another win in this rivalry.
