Ole Miss Among 7 Teams Primed To Win National Championship in 2024
OXFORD, Miss. -- We are only in January, but it is never too early to start fantasizing about the 2024-25 college football season. The Ole Miss Rebels are gearing for the new season to start, as Lane Kiffin and Co. are building a team that is ready to win now and win big.
Multiple outlets have already predicted the Rebels to start next season as a Top 10 program, but Athlon Sports took it a step further on Tuesday, expressing that Ole Miss is one of the seven teams capable of winning a national championship in 2024. Athlon Sports listed Ole Miss, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan Wolverines, Texas Longhorns, and Georgia Bulldogs as the teams most likely to win it all next year.
Since the regular season ended, Ole Miss has supercharged its talent on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, which was the Rebels' biggest need heading into the offseason. With some of the best players in the NCAA Transfer Portal heading to Oxford, Athlon Sports believes the Rebels are primed for greatness.
How Much Did Lane Kiffin Earn in Bonuses During 2023 Season?
"Kiffin and the Rebels have successfully recruited the nation's No. 1 transfer portal class, featuring standout defensive linemen," Athlon Sports writes. "Former five-star recruit Walter Nolen from Texas A&M, alongside Princely Umanmielen from Florida and Tyler Baron from Tennessee, headline the class. This trio is anticipated to form one of the most formidable defensive lines in college football, addressing a crucial area for Ole Miss as they strive for championship success."
Along with their defensive line commits, the Rebels have also bolstered their offensive line. Former North Carolina offensive lineman Diego Pounds committed to Ole Miss on Monday, after starting in all 13 games for the Tar Heels in 2023.
