Ole Miss Rebels Break Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Attendance Record vs. LSU Tigers
The No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels are currently in an offensive slugfest against the No. 13 LSU Tigers, and they are doing so in front of a record crowd.
Ole Miss athletics announced that a Vaught-Hemingway Stadium attendance record was broken, as there are 66,703 people in attendance Saturday, exceeding the 64,038 capacity by approximately 4.1 percent. The previous attendance record was 66,176 patrons that saw Ole Miss' shootout with the Alabama Crimson Tide that it lost 48-43 in 2016.
This is the third time in program history that Vaught-Hemingway Stadium's attendance has exceeded 66,000 attendees. In 2016, 66,038 people watched Ole Miss get throttled 55-20 by Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.
The previous attendance record for the Ole Miss-LSU Magnolia Bowl in Oxford, Mississippi, was 64,523 people that watched the Rebels beat the Tigers 31-17.
Ole Miss has lost each of its four previous highest attendance games, losing to Alabama, Mississippi State and Auburn in 2016 and to 30-24 to the Crimson Tide last year.
The Rebels are 6-0 in their No. 6-11 highest-attended games, defeating Georgia and Wofford in 2016, LSU and Texas A&M in 2021 and Auburn and Kentucky in 2022.
The fans in attendance are getting a treat, too.
In the first half, the Rebels and Tigers exploded offensively, combining for 59 points and 760 yards of total offense.
Quarterbacks Jaxson Dart and Jayden Daniels put up video game numbers in the opening 30 minutes, too. Dart was 17-for-23 for 242 yards and three touchdowns, while Daniels completed 15 of his first-half pass attempts 19 for 234 yards and three scores.
