Ole Miss Rebels Go Undefeated in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in 2023
The No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels had an awfully slow first half on Saturday, but they managed to turn it around after halftime, cruising to a 35-3 victory over the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
With the victory over ULM secured, Ole Miss has officially gone undefeated at home this season with a 7-0 perfect record in The Vaught. This marks the third season in program history where Ole Miss has gone undefeated at home, joining the 2021 (7-0) and 1992 (6-0) campaigns. Under coach Lane Kiffin, the Rebels have developed a strong home-field advantage, as Ole Miss is 21-2 in its last 23 home games.
The Rebels protected their house this season, and it just might help them accomplish something that has never been done at Ole Miss. When the Rebels went undefeated at home in 2021, they also secured their first 10-win regular season. Ole Miss has now gone undefeated at home this season and has a chance at securing its first-ever 11-win season.
Playing hard to beat at home has become a key part of Kiffin's recipe for success in Oxford, and it is thanks to the Ole Miss fans who have locked the Vaught. During Week 5 versus the LSU Tigers, Ole Miss football broke the all-time attendance record, as 66,703 fans jammed into The Vaught to watch the Rebels win 55-49.
All Ole Miss needs to do to secure its second 10-win season in three years is beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Thanksgiving Day in the annual Egg Bowl. Kickoff between Ole Miss and State is set for 6:30 p.m. CT in Starkville and the game will be televised by ESPN.
