Ole Miss Rebels' DL Jared Ivey Reveals Plans To Return For 2024 Season
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels have locked up another senior defensive lineman for the 2024 season, as Jared Ivey announced that he will be returning to Oxford for his final year of eligibility on Tuesday via social media. The former transfer made his reveal by posting a "Staying Home" graphic, and kept it short and sweet with his caption.
"Run it back #hottytoddy," -- Ivey via X (formerly Twitter).
Ivey's return is huge for the Rebels, as the Suwanee, Ga., native finished the 2023 regular season first on the team in tackles for loss (9.5) and tied for first in sacks (5.5). In two seasons at Ole Miss, Ivey has totaled 78 tackles, 14 TFLs, and nine sacks
The Rebels have had a busy couple of weeks with the NCAA Transfer Portal opening for business last Monday, but the program has still been working overtime to retain its veterans for a run at the 12-team College Football Playoffs beginning in 2024.
Next season, Ivey will be joined by another former transfer in the trenches, senior defensive lineman JJ Pegues - who was one of the first seniors to announce he would be returning. In 2023, Pegues finished third on the team in sacks (3.5) and second on the team in TFLs (8.0).
Rebels Offensive Lineman Micah Pettus to Return For 2024 Season
Those are the only seniors on the defensive side of the ball who have announced a victory lap, so far. Offensively, the Rebels have received senior pledges from tight end Caden Prieskorn, offensive tackle Micah Pettus, and receivers Jordan Watkins and Tre Harris.
