Jaxson Dart's Legs Power Rebels To Halftime Lead
A 1-yard touchdown run from Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first quarter is the difference as they lead the Georgia Tech Rebels 10-3 at halftime Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Rebels running back Quinshon Judkins is dressed out but is limited in his usage due to an upper body injury, getting only seven carries in the first half, but it has been Dart who has led Ole Miss' ground game.
On each of Ole Miss' first three drives, Dart has been the engine on the ground. On the first drive, he rushed for 19 yards and followed that up with four rushes on five plays for 14 yards, capping that off with a 1-yard plunge to give the Rebels a 10-0 lead with 3:02 to go in the first quarter.
Dart ran for a career-long 68 yards on one carry, but the drive stalled after an incompletion turned it over on downs on fourth and goal. Dart leads all ball carriers with 118 yards on eight carries and one score.
Georgia Tech had three long, sustained drives in the first half in which they ran 42 plays that ate up 20:20.
Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King is 12-for-17 for 106 yards in the first half.
On the Yellow Jackets' second drive, quarterback Haynes King completed 12- and 17-yard passes on third-and-7 and third-and-8, respectively. On their third third-down attempt, running back Jamal Haynes ran for three yards, setting up a fourth-and-2.
King took a shot to the end zone for wide receiver Dominick Blaylock, but Rebels safety Daijahn Anthony broke up the pass as the two fell to the ground.
One drive later, Georgia Tech converted a crucial third-and-12 with a 15-yard run from Haynes which set up a 22-yard field goal attempt from kicker Aidan Birr.
