Ole Miss Rebels QB Jaxson Dart Living Up To 'Score From Far' Motto
OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart is having a helluva season in his second year under Lane Kiffin.
Through seven games, the former USC transfer has thrown 1,840 yards, 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions while contributing 346 rushing yards and six more endzone trips. Dart's play combined with a vastly improved defense has the Rebels sitting in third place in the competitive SEC West with a 6-1 record (3-1 in SEC), and if it keeps up, Ole Miss could finish the year with one or two losses max.
While the offense has sputtered at times, Dart has still managed produce, as Ole Miss recently announced that the signal-caller currently leads the nation in percentage of completions of 20 yards or more through seven games.
While Ole Miss does not entirely control its own destiny at this point, Dart's second-year surge has put the Rebels in the conversation for the SEC Title game in Atlanta and perhaps more if the cards fall right.
He is not among the favorites to travel for the Heisman Trophy Ceremony, but it would be almost impossible to keep Dart out of New York City if the Rebels were to (hypothetically) beat No. 1 Georgia on the road and possibly secure an elusive seat in the playoffs.
Heisman or not, Dart has still landed himself on the watch lists for the Maxwell, Manning, and Johnny Unitas Awards.
Dart and the Rebels will look to add another win on Saturday when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for their final "rivalry" game. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and the matchup will be televised on SEC Network.
