Ole Miss Locks Up Ex-James Madison DL Isaac Ukwu
OXFORD, Miss. -- We are approaching the dog days of summer but the Ole Miss Rebels are not finished with the NCAA Transfer Portal. On3Sports announced on Friday night that former James Madison Dukes defensive lineman Isaac Ukwu has officially committed to Ole Miss.
Ukwu had a productive three-year career with James Madison before electing to transfer to Ole Miss. Ukwu recorded 87 tackles, 27.5 tackles for a loss, 16.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and five passes defended in his time with James Madison. In 2022, the senior registered 40 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, 7.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman earned all 16.5 of his career sacks in the last two seasons. Newly hired defensive coordinator Pete Golding has a talented piece to rotate along his front seven.
Ukwu chose the Rebels over the Auburn Tigers, California Golden Bears, Kansas Jayhawks, USF Bulls, and West Virginia Mountaineers. The Upper Marlboro, Md., native was unrated coming out of the 2017 recruiting cycle, but was rated as a four-star transfer with a 90.00 grade, according to On3 rankings.
Ukwu joins the No. 6 transfer class in the country at Ole Miss which just added former Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive lineman Stephon Wynn Jr. on Thursday.
