One of the highly coveted defensive line recruits of the 2024 cycle made a lot of Ole Miss Rebels football fans happy on Saturday as he announced his commitment to play football in Oxford.

The 6-5, 265-pound Lake Cormorant High School product made a huge splash nationally when he posted 71 tackles, 11 sacks, one forced fumble and four interceptions in his sophomore season. Read that again. We'll wait.

He followed that up with an unforgettable junior season with the Gators with 73 tackles, 22 for loss, and a school-record 17 sacks. He also added 48 quarterback pressures and 27 quarterback hits. He earned Commercial Appeal football first-team all-metro honors, and also just about every other individual recognition available throughout the state.

Per On3, Franklin is the No. 1 recruit in the state of Mississippi, the No. 7 defensive lineman nationally, and the overall No. 39 recruit for the 2024 cycle in the nation.

Franklin also entertained offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Miami (FL), Alabama and Texas A&M among others.

While Franklin's recruitment will likely continue until signing day, the Rebels have picked up an elite program changer following a late surge from new defensive coordinator Pete Golding and assistant Randall Joyner.

Golding was hired in January and is already showing off his recruiting chops after reeling in the nation's No. 8 defensive lineman recruit. The "Stay in the Sip" movement is alive and well as the Rebels have also received commitments from 2024 four-star defenders Jeffrey Rush, Kamron Beavers, and Raymond Collins. All three recruits, Like Franklin, are from Mississippi.
