'I'm Happy To Be On This Team': Rebels Spencer Sanders Dispels Transfer Rumors

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Spencer Sanders has heard the rumors about him entering fall camp, so he recently cleared things up.
In this story:

OXFORD, Miss. -- After not being fully healthy during spring practices, Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Spencer Sanders is reportedly back to 100 percent entering fall camp. Sanders is now full-go to compete for Ole Miss' starting quarterback position versus the incumbent Jaxson Dart, fellow transfer Walker Howard, and true freshman Austin Simmons.

Despite nursing an injury to his throwing shoulder, the former Oklahoma State transfer tore up the 2023 Grove Bowl completing 19-of-27 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns. Sanders also recorded 72 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, and made a 50-yard reception on a trick play.

In a recent interview with OMSpirit, Sanders explained how he managed to put on such a performance while dealing with an injury.

"I think I was running on adrenaline in the spring game,” Sanders told OMSpirit. “We had the script a few days before the game and I had time to study the plays and the plan. I felt really good that day."

Sanders explained that he is nearly back up to speed following six months of rehab.

"I can still get more strength in the shoulder, but I’m real close to full speed,” Sanders said. “I’ve gotten most of my rotation back and I’m throwing the ball with more authority this summer in workouts."

Sanders transferred to Ole Miss this offseason with one year of eligibility remaining and hopes of contributing to Lane Kiffin's squad. However, a rumor has recently circulated that as soon as he finishes his college credits, Sanders might opt to leave Ole Miss as a graduate transfer.

Sanders put that rumor to bed.

"I will definitely be here Aug. 1 when practice starts," Sanders said. "I can’t wait to represent Ole Miss. This place is great and has a tremendous fan base. I’m happy to be on this team, happy to be in the QB room and happy to compete every day."
