Ole Miss WR Tre Harris Among Highest-Graded Returning SEC Receivers in 2023
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels took a blow to their receiving corps at the beginning of May when former transfer wideout Chris Marshall was dismissed from the team after violating team rules. However, another Ole Miss receiver acquired via the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason appears to have the talent to pick up the slack.
Pro Football Focus released rankings for the 10 highest-graded returning wideouts in the Southeastern Conference on Monday, and Ole Miss' Tre Harris made the cut.
Harris was rated as the fifth-best receiver in the SEC entering next season, with a PFF grade of 77.8.
Georgia Bulldogs receiver Dominic Lovett leads all returning SEC wideouts with an 83.8 grade, followed by Arkansas Razorback Andrew Armstrong (82.9), Florida Gator Ricky Pearsall (80.3), Tennessee Volunteer Squirrel White (78.1), LSU Tiger Malik Nabers (77.5), Georgia Bulldog Ladd McConkey (77.4), Mississippi State Bulldog Freddie Roberson (77.3), Texas A&M Aggie Moose Muhammad III (76.0), and Vanderbilt Commodore Will Sheppard (75.2).
PFF grades are determined on a play-by-play basis, and posit how much an individual player "contributes to production" on every snap.
Harris transferred to Ole Miss in December after spending the last three seasons playing for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound receiver appeared in 24 games with the Bulldogs, hauling in 106 receptions for 1,527 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. Harris caught 10 of those 14 touchdowns last fall. According to On3 rankings, Harris was rated as the No. 9 receiver available in the portal this offseason.
The Lafayette, La., native did not get to play in the 2023 Grove Bowl due to injury but will be ready to turn heads this fall when his number is called.
