OXFORD, Miss. -- Lane Kiffin took a hit to his 2024 recruitment class on Sunday afternoon, as four-star quarterback Trever Jackson announced via social media that he was officially decommitted from the Ole Miss Rebels.

Jackson's announcement comes on the heels of an Ole Miss 33-7 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday night. The Rebels hosted multiple 2024 recruits this weekend for their homecoming matchup with the Commodores, including four-star defensive line commit William Echoles.

Jackson previously committed to Ole Miss in August, but has since had a change of heart.

"After a discussion with my parents and coaches, I have made the difficult decision to decommit from the University of Mississippi. While I am grateful to coach Lane and the entire staff for the opportunity, I have determined it is best for my future to reopen my recruitment at this time. Godspeed." -- Trever Jackson via Twitter.

According to On3 rankings, Jackson is rated as the No. 35 recruit in the state of Florida and the No. 16 quarterback in the 2024 cycle. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal-caller is listed as the No. 264 overall prospect in 2024.

Per On3, the other teams that have offered Jackson include the Pittsburgh Panthers, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, Missouri Tigers, Penn State Nittany Lions, and UCLA Bruins to name a few.

With Jackson's recruitment open again, Ole Miss currently has zero high school quarterbacks committed from the 2024 cycle. The Rebels still boast the No. 22 recruitment class in the nation, per On3, but adding another quarterback will likely become a top priority, as the Rebels lack future depth behind Walker Howard and Austin Simmons.
