Ole Miss, Tulane Listed Among 23 Most Captivating Matchups Next Season

The hype continues to build for Ole Miss' 2023 regular season matchup versus Tulane.

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels have a tough slate of SEC games this upcoming college football season featuring the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Arkansas Razorbacks among others. However, one of their non-conference matchups is beginning to garner national attention.

Ole Miss starts its 2023 campaign with a road test on Sept. 9 when the Rebels travel to take on the Tulane Green Wave, who finished the 2022 season as one of the best Group of Five schools in the country. The last time these two programs met in 2021, Ole Miss won by a decisive score of 61-21 in front of a home crowd. The sixty-seventh meeting between these two programs is not shaping up to be a blowout.

247Sports ranked the 23 most captivating games to look out for this upcoming season on Thursday and put Ole Miss versus Tulane at No. 18.

Here is why you should keep Ole Miss' Week 2 matchup marked on your calendar:

18. OLE MISS AT TULANE, SEPT. 9

Will Tulane get back to the New Year's Six? The Green Wave (and Boise State) are a favorite to get there with quarterback Michael Pratt returning after his Herculean performance against USC in the Cotton Bowl. Ole Miss has a quarterback situation on its hands with Jaxson Dart and Spencer Sanders and things may not be operating smoothly offensively just yet in Week 2 during this trip to Louisiana. Ole Miss will be favored in this one, but we're expecting one of September's most competitive games.

After defeating the USC Trojans 46-45 in the 2023 Cotton Bowl Classic to cap off their historic 2022-23 campaign, the Green Wave will not be a team to be taken lightly this fall. Led by junior quarterback Michael Pratt - who recorded 3,010 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and five interceptions last season  - Tulane is already a step ahead of Ole Miss in the sense that they have determined their starting signal caller.

The Rebels have one of the most talented quarterback rooms in the nation entering the fall after former transfers Spencer Sanders (Oklahoma State) and Walker Howard (LSU) committed to Ole Miss in January, joining Jaxson Dart for a three-way quarterback competition that remains undecided. The Rebels will need to have the most important position on the field figured out sooner rather than later this season if they want to extend their win streak over Tulane to 13 games.
