Ole Miss WR Zakhari Franklin Among Most Impactful 2023 Transfers Making Jump to Power 5
OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels receiver Zakhari Franklin is the latest offensive transfer to arrive in Oxford this offseason, and the former UTSA Roadrunner is set to have a major role in Lane Kiffin's offense. Franklin was one of the bigger names in the NCAA Transfer Portal making the jump from the FCS, Group of 5, or even D-II to the Power 5 in 2023.
In four seasons with the Roadrunners, Franklin hauled in 262 receptions for 3,348 receiving yards and 37 touchdown receptions. Franklin set UTSA school records for the most single-game, single-season, and career receptions. The Cedar Hill, Tex., native also holds the highest single-season and career receiving yardage marks and the most single-season and career touchdown catches in UTSA history.
On3 ranked the 25 most impactful college football players making the jump to the Power 5 this season and Franklin secured a spot in the Top 5.
4. WR Zakhari Franklin, Ole Miss
Frank Harris’ favorite target recently announced his commitment to Ole Miss, leaving UTSA for Oxford for his senior season. Franklin was an All-American in 2022 after a monster season where he had 93 catches for 1,137 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Franklin should step in as the No. 1 receiving option in the Ole Miss offense for whoever wins the ongoing quarterback battle in Oxford. Both Franklin and fellow transfer receiver Tre Harris are set for big seasons with the Rebels after the two combined for 25 total touchdown receptions in 2022.
