Rebels' Zakhari Franklin, Tre Harris Named To Biletnikoff Award Watch List
OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels receivers Zakhari Franklin and Tre Harris were both named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List on Monday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
The Biletnikoff Award is presented annually to the most outstanding receiver in college football and is not limited to just wide receivers. Any player who catches a pass, regardless of position, is eligible to receive the award. The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee.
Franklin and Harris are among the 49 FBS receivers and eight within the SEC to be considered for the Biletnikoff Award in 2023. The Rebel pair are not strangers to the Biletnikoff, as both were watch list members during the 2022 season.
Both Franklin and Harris elected to transfer to Ole Miss ahead of their senior campaigns after spending their careers with the UTSA Roadrunners and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, respectively.
Franklin enters the 2023 season as the active FBS leader in career receptions (262) and is No. 2 on the active list in career receiving yards (3,348). Franklin is the school record holder at UTSA for the most single-game, single-season and career receptions. He also holds the highest single-season and career receiving yardage marks and the most single-season and career touchdown catches in Roadrunners history.
In 24 games with Louisiana Tech, Harris recorded 106 receptions for 1,527 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. The 6-2, 205-pounder caught 10 of those 14 touchdowns last fall and was rated as the fifth-best receiver in the SEC entering 2023 by Pro Football Focus with a grade of 77.8.
The Rebels lost their top two wideouts from 2022 (Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath) to the NFL, but there will not be a drop off in talent with Franklin and Harris taking over in 2023.
