Rebels Make Top 5 For Jackson State Wide Receiver Shane Hooks

Could the Rebels add another transfer portal receiver?

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels were named to the top five schools for transfer portal wide receiver Shane Hooks of the Jackson State Tigers on Monday.

Hooks released his top five schools on Instagram, and along with the Rebels, he is considering the Cincinnati Bearcats, Colorado Buffaloes, Texas A&M Aggies and UNLV Rebels.

"I'm on my way!" Hooks said in his Instagram post.

The wideout was a huge asset for Deion Sanders' Tigers in 2022, hauling in 66 receptions for 775 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Rebels, however, will have to compete with Hooks' former coach in Deion Sanders who is now at Colorado and also made his top five. It is also worth noting that his quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, is also in Boulder.

The recruiting for Hooks' talents has already begun. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart commented "Cmon now!!!!" with a shark emoji on his top five announcement on Monday, and Deion Sanders Jr. also made his pitch in the Instagram comments, complete with fire emojis.

Who will win the battle for this talented receiver? Time will tell, but Ole Miss is certainly in the mix as Lane Kiffin continues to put an emphasis on the transfer portal in his recruiting strategy.
