Through The Lens: 13 Photos That Tell Ole Miss' 2023 Football Story
The Ole Miss Rebels completed one of the best seasons in school history in 2023, capturing their first-ever 11-win campaign and a win in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
While the Rebels are working to continue this momentum into the offseason and their 2024 slate, it's worth looking back at some of the photos that tell the story of Ole Miss' record-setting year. Below, we choose one photo from each game this season that encapsulates the story of that particular week.
Let's dive in.
1 -- vs. Mercer Bears (W 73-7)
Tre Harris had a record-setting day in the Rebels' rout of Mercer in Week 1, hauling in six receptions for 133 yards and four touchdowns.
2 -- at Tulane Green Wave (W 37-20)
This game was closer than the score indicated throughout, but key plays by Ole Miss late in the game (including this Deantre Prince interception) helped turn the tide, or, in this case, "stifle the Wave."
3 -- vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (W 48-23)
Jordan Watkins provided a big boost for Ole Miss in its Week 3 home win over Georgia Tech, leading the Rebels in receiving with 119 yards and a score, one that went for 68 yards, as shown above.
4 -- at Alabama Crimson Tide (L 24-10)
After gaining an early lead against the Tide, Ole Miss was shut down offensively for much of this game, leading to its first loss of the season.
5 -- vs. LSU Tigers (W 55-49)
Oxford hosted one of the wildest games in Magnolia Bowl history this season, seeing Ole Miss come back from a two-score deficit to claim a 55-49 win over its rival LSU Tigers. This score by Tre Harris gave the Rebels that advantage, and an incomplete pass from LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels in the end zone sealed the game as time expired.
6 -- vs. Arkansas Razorbacks (W 27-20)
A defensive slugfest throughout, running back Ulysses Bentley provided a spark for Ole Miss in this close affair with 94 rushing yards and a score.
7 -- at Auburn Tigers (W 28-21)
This was another gritty win for Ole Miss, but quarterback Jaxson Dart made his presence felt in the air as well as on the ground to help salt away former Rebel coach Hugh Freeze.
8 -- vs. Vanderbilt Commodores (W 33-7)
Vanderbilt was held to an abysmal 60 yards while playing two quarterbacks, going a combined 8-for-20 through the air with two interceptions.
9 -- vs. Texas A&M Aggies (W 38-35)
This game came down to the wire, and it took a blocked field goal from Zxavian Harris as time expired to push the Rebels over the top against the then-Jimbo-Fisher-led Aggies.
10 -- at Georgia Bulldogs (L 52-17)
By far Ole Miss' worst performance of the season came in Athens on Nov. 11. The Rebels defense was torched all night by the Georgia offense, and after a couple of drives in the first half, the Ole Miss offense didn't fare any better.
11 -- vs. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (W 35-3)
This was a rather nondescript game that straddled Ole Miss' disappointing performance against Georgia and a trip to Starkville the following Thursday. What it did see, however, was five Rebels tally over 50 receiving yards, including tight end Caden Prieskorn with 69 yards and a score.

12 -- at Mississippi State Bulldogs (W 17-7)
The 2023 Egg Bowl was not Ole Miss' best offensive performance of the season, but it did give the Rebels their second 10-win season in the last three years, both of which have come under Lane Kiffin.
Peach Bowl vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (W 38-25)
The Peach Bowl win over Penn State solidified Ole Miss as a playoff contender entering the 2024 season, and it gave the Rebels their first 11-win season in program history in the process.
