TIGERS TOPPLED: Ole Miss Pulls Off Electric Magnolia Bowl Win Over Rival LSU

The Rebels pulled off one of the most electric wins in school history on Saturday night.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Lane Kiffin now has his signature win at the University of Mississippi.

The No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels pulled out a 55-49 win in one of the most exciting Magnolia Bowls in series history, taking its final lead with less than a minute left to play in front of a record crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday night.

Neither the Rebels or the No. 13 LSU Tigers' defense had an answer for the opposing offenses on Saturday night, and the two teams combined for over 1,300 total yards. Ole Miss carried a 31-28 lead into halftime after leading 14-0 earlier in the game, but that advantage quickly evaporated as LSU scored to open the second half.

The back-and-forth offensive battle continued following the intermission, but after a questionable upholding of a passing touchdown for the Tigers in the fourth quarter, Ole Miss' defense eventually came up with a key stop and sack of quarterback Jayden Daniels to give its offense the ball with a little over two minutes left to play. After a methodical drive, Jaxson Dart found a short connection with wide receiver Tre Harris that resulted in the deciding touchdown followed by a two-point conversion from Quinshon Judkins.

In total, Ole Miss' offense put up 389 passing yards and 317 on the ground, and Dart alone was responsible for five touchdowns, four of which were passing.

LSU put together a promising drive with under a minute left in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels defense forced a stop as time expired deep in Ole Miss territory to seal the win.

With the win, Ole Miss improves to 4-1 overall on the season and 1-1 within the Southeastern Conference. The Rebels will host the Arkansas Razorbacks next week at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium with a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN.
