Recruiting in enemy territory is par for the course for most of the SEC's top programs, with the Ole Miss Rebels making similar pushes every single cycle.

In 2024, it will be more of the same, with one example among the latest wave of unofficial visitors to Oxford during spring practice.

Kendall Jackson, an emerging pass-rusher recruit from Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz High School took in the program for the first time as a recruit. The Rebels had just offered in January and the visit to overlap with spring football was set soon after.

"Really the whole coaching staff and school impressed me," Jackson told The Grove Report. "I like Coach (Randall) Joyner a lot, the way he cares for his players and wants to develop them to be more than just a football player spoke out to me."

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound class of 2024 talent is amid a slew of visits through SEC country and beyond, but getting back to Oxford is now on the table after the initial impression. It went beyond Lane Kiffin's staff, too.

The atmosphere in and around spring football captured Jackson's attention.

"The town was cool, I liked it a lot," he said. "Practice really impressed me. The way they were getting after it and the energy the coaches were having really impressed me.

"They way Coach Joyner was able to breakdown why he coached a specific move the way he did and show that it actually works."

Jackson, who ranks as a four-star recruit via On3, tallied 65 tackles, including 22 for loss and 12.5 sacks while working as a junior pass rusher in 2022. He says the Rebels will remain in the hunt for his services moving forward.

“Ole Miss has been showing love from the moment they gave me an offer,” he said. “I love the coaching staff and the way they develop a players to be a better man and football player.”
