Where Do Ole Miss Rebels Land in Current 2024 Recruiting Rankings?

Can the Ole Miss Rebels reel in a big class under Lane Kiffin this season?
In this story:

The Ole Miss Rebels have their eyes set on another 10-win season, but in order to keep that momentum moving, recruiting success is paramount.

So, where do the Rebels currently stand in that category?

According to On3's recruiting database, Ole Miss currently has the No. 20 recruiting class in the country, good enough for 11th in the SEC with 22 commitments. Headlining that class is a quartet of four stars from Mississippi in Kamarion Franklin, Kamron Beavers, Noreel White and William Echoles.

That's solid, but it can be better, and Lane Kiffin knows it based on his comments following this weekend's blowout loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

"I’m very realistic," Kiffin said. "That was not playoff-looking team at all that we put out there today. The last thing I’m worried about is that knocking us out of the playoffs. We don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.

"We’ve got to recruit at a higher level. I’m not blaming. We’ve got to coach better. At some point, whatever those stats are … we’ve signed one five-star, they’ve signed 24. It kind of (does) show up at some point. We would have to recruit at a better level. Do a better job of recruiting."

By comparison, Georgia currently has the top recruiting class in the country according to On3, and seven current and future SEC teams occupy spots in the top 10.

It's also worth noting that Kiffin and the Rebels have utilized the transfer portal as much as anyone in the country since its advent, so holes that are left from prep recruiting are often filled that way. Still, the portal can be hit-or-miss as evidenced by the Rebels' collapse in the 2022 season, so that strategy is a gamble.

There's still time, and a No. 20 ranking is nothing to scoff at, but if Kiffin wants to compete for national championships, he'll want to see those rankings climb in the months and years ahead.
