In-State Running Back Chris Davis Decommits From Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. -- In-state running back Chris Davis has de-committed from the Ole Miss Rebels, officially making the announcement on Monday. He originally committed to the program in March of this year.
"This by far has been one of the hardest decisions that l've ever had to make," Davis said in a statement. "After a lot of prayer and several conversations with my family. I have come to the conclusion, that it is in my best interest to re-opening my recruitment. I am formally announcing my decommitment from Ole Miss. Ole Miss is a great place and definitely still at the top of the list. I just have to make sure, that I am doing what is best for me. With that being said, my recruitment is 1000% back open...
God's Timing, not mine!!!!"
Davis originally picked the Rebels over a myriad of other impressive offers, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Memphis, Oregon Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M and more.
As for why Davis picked the Rebels, the attraction of staying home was an influence prior to his decommitment.
"The vibes, the place, the people... it’s home," Davis said told the Grove Report of his decision. "I'm blessed to be where I am today. Without the man above I’m nothing, but overall the way they kept it real from the jump, they’ve been there since day one, and been showing love. Why not put on for my home state? No better place to be!"
In his 2022 campaign with Picayune Memorial, Davis was a central role in helping the Maroon Tide to a 15-0 record and a state title, rushing 122 times for 1,078 yards and 15 touchdowns, and making 30 tackles and three interceptions on defense.
