In this story:

This week's matchup between No. 6 Oregon and the USC Trojans will feature two of the best quarterbacks in the country when Bo Nix and Caleb Williams take the field under the Saturday night lights.

Oregon's quarterback met with reporters following Tuesday's practice in Eugene at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

Below is a complete transcription of everything the senior passer had to say before Oregon faces USC at 7:30 pm PT on Fox.

Question: How much does a new DC impact your preparation and what do you look for to pick up on game plan and playcalling tactics?

Nix: "I think we probably won't be able to see until the game, so you've got to just go off what they've been doing. They probably won't change a whole lot just because it's a short week to prepare. I think they'll just go back through their arsenal and pick some of the schemes that they've had, and just go out there and play ball."

Question: Have you gone back and looked at the Alamo Bowl game?

Nix: "Not yet."

Question: Does that kind of a challenge excite you personally? In terms of just getting to the line of scrimmage and figure things out. Is that kind of a challenge something you look forward to?

Nix: "Yeah I think, definitely gonna have to get our eyes up and see the picture and just kind of play off our rules of what we've been doing all year. We'll see something that's different for sure and we'll have to change some things, but that's part of in-game adjustments."

Question: As the last couple days have progressed and you've looked back on it (Cal win) more, and started to move forward, how have you felt about what you can do better and how to build on that?

Nix: "I think execution-wise, it's not the plays or the schemes, it's just the mental errors and the penalties and the turnovers, that really when we fix we're going to have even more success. That's what we're working on as an offense and that's what we're trying to do."

Question: You mention the communication with Jackson (Powers-Johnson) on the snap play is that something you put extra emphasis on this week or change anything you're doing?

Nix: "No. That's never really happened, so we just gotta continue to do what we do and communicate the little things better in-game."

Question: What's your understanding of the USC rivalry and what are you hearing from the guys?

Nix: "I'm excited. I know it's going to be a really fun game. We get to play at night under the lights. That's everybody's dream. That's where football is really fun. I know they're going to bring their A-game, they're gonna play really hard. That's what we can expect. We've just got to match their intensity and start fast."

Question: What's your relationship like with Caleb? Have you spent much time with him over the past few years?

Nix: "Not a whole lot. We've always been in different situations, different positions. I'm older than he is, so we didn't really come up together, and we've obviously been in different conferences until the last two years. I've been around him a few times, got to know him. I really respect what he does. I really respect how hard he plays and the competitor that he is. I just understand that we're really in the same boat. We go about our business the same. We try to do whatever we can to win games. So I respect that about him."

Question: How do you mentally approach games against great quarterbacks?

Nix: "The only thing I can do is just worry about their defense. That's what we've been doing all year. We just go out there and attack their defense. We trust and believe in our defense to go out and defend him. That's all we can do. I've just got do my job, and everybody else on the team will do theirs."

Question: What have you seen from USC cornerback Christian Rolland-Wallace?

Nix: "He does good and they've just got a lot of talent on their defense. They're really athletic. They've got some range. We know they're going to be a good team. They're going to be really ready to go. They're going to be enthusiastic, they're gonna be kind of lit up at the beginning of the game and just excited for the atmosphere. We've just got to do a good job of controlling our intensity at the beginning and making sure that we start fast."

Question: What's your opinion on the 7:30 kickoff?

Nix: "It's out of my control. I think it's just TV times. You get slotted and it is what it is. I don't mind a good night game every once and a while. I do know from family back on the East Coast, that they're going to stay up real late. That part does stink for them. It's part of it. I'm just excited to be on TV and playing against a good opponent."

Question: How does the late kick change your gameday routine?

Nix: "It's obviously different because we don't normally play or practice at night. So we're going to have a bit more downtime, but we played at night against Texas Tech. We played at night against Hawaii. We've just got to make that you obviously rest, stay off your feet, make sure you eat and hydrate and take care of your body throughout the day so you that feel refreshed when the game starts. I think most of us though, we're used to playing at night. Our whole lives that's usually when we've played a lot of ball. We're accustomed to it and it'll just be a little shake up. We'll be prepared and ready to go. They'll have a really good schedule for us. They'll take care of us in that way. I'm just excited to get to kickoff."
