Former Oregon GA Viane Talamaivao Expected to Become Next Stanford O-Line Coach
It's been a busy offseason full of coaching moves across the sport of college football and there's been no exception in Eugene.
After coaching the offensive line with Adrian Klem in 2022, former Oregon Ducks graduate assistant Viane Talamaivao is expected to be named the new offensive line coach at Stanford, according to a report from On3's Matt Zenitz.
Talamaivao played his college football for the USC Trojans from 2014 to 2017, starting in 37 of his 44 games and primarily working at offensive guard.
He got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant working with the offensive line in 2019 and worked as an offensive quality control analyst under Clay Helton in 2021.
The up-and-coming coach then joined Dan Lanning's staff at Oregon for the 2022 season and played a big role in the Ducks landing Josh Conerly Jr., the No. 1-ranked offensive tackle in the country for the 2022 recruiting class.
Following his lone season in Eugene Talamaivao was named the offensive line coach at Northern Arizona University.
Now he joins new head coach Troy Taylor's coaching staff on the Farm at Stanford. The Cardinal have produced a number of NFL offensive linemen in recent years, including Foster Sarell (Los Angeles Chargers) and Walker Little (Jacksonville Jaguars).
Oregon's offensive staff has seen some movement this offseason, most notably losing offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kenny Dillingham to the Arizona State Sun Devils and offensive line coach Adrian Klemm to the New England Patriots.
Dan Lanning and the Ducks are expected to hire Mike Cavanaugh as an assistant offensive line coach/analyst to assist new offensive line coach A'lique Terry, who was hired earlier this month after spending time as an assistant defensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings.
