Former Oregon Outside Linebacker Anthony Jones Announces Transfer Destination
Former Oregon Ducks outside linebacker Anthony Jones has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers.
"100% committed. Time to go shock the country!" Jones said in a social media post.
Jones entered the transfer portal on April 26 after one season at Oregon. During his lone year with the Ducks he played in two games and recorded one solo tackle against Colorado.
The 6-foot-3, 243-pound edge rusher signed with Oregon as a three-star (0.8770) athlete recruit in the 2022 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite. He played his high school football at Henderson (Nev.) Liberty High School, which also produced former Oregon players Sir Mells ('22) and Moliki Matavao (2021).
Jones was one of five total transfers this offseason from the 2022 class along with the aforementioned Mells as well as linebacker Harrison Taggart, cornerback Jalil Tucker and safety Trejon Williams.
Coincidentally, Indiana was also the landing spot for former Oregon center Kel'el Ware, who transferred after one season with the Ducks.
Dan Lanning and the Ducks added a number of edge rushers since the end of the 2022 season, headlined by South Carolina transfer Jordan Burch and 2023 signee Matayo Uiagalelei.
