Iapani Laloulu Named to 247Sports True Freshman All-American Team
Oregon looks like it's poised to continue its tradition of producing elite NFL offensive lineman.
Shortly after Jackson Powers-Johnson declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, Oregon offensive lineman Iapani Laloulu was named to the 247Sports True Freshman All-American team, which was announced on Tuesday.
Laloulu was A'lique Terry's sixth man in his offensive line rotation and made a significant impact on this year's team, carving out a role for himself primarily at offensive guard, while also getting some snaps at center.
He excelled as a pass blocker and finished the year with an 80.2 pass-block grade according to Pro Football Focus.
After signing with the Ducks as a four-star (0.8989 per 247Sports Composite) recruit from Honolulu (Hi.) Farrington High School, he proved to be to good to keep off the field in his debut season.
Here's what 247's Chris Hummer had to say about the 6-foot-2, 325-pound offensive lineman.
"Laloulu didn’t start a game for the Ducks this season, but he was consistently excellent in his many opportunities to play. Laloulu still managed to play 348 snaps as a swing interior lineman, spending time at right guard, left guard and center. Laloulu allowed a single pressure all season and also was a big part of what was the nation’s No. 3 rushing offense in terms of yards per play. He’ll be readying for a starting gig in 2024 as the Ducks reload at quarterback".
Laloulu will likely head into the 2024 season as Oregon's top option to replace Powers-Johnson at center, and will be one of the team's top returning offensive linemen, along with starting left tackle Josh Conerly Jr.
