Oregon Ducks redshirt sophomore cornerback Darren Barkins has entered the transfer portal. He announced his decision on Wednesday.

"I appreciate Coach Lanning as well as all the coaches at Oregon and will cherish all the moments we had," Barkins wrote in a social media post. "Most importantly I want to thank Coach Meat for unconditionally supporting me and developing me in all areas of my life. With that being said, I am entering my name into the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility."

Barkins spent two seasons with the Ducks and played in 12 total games. He logged three total tackles and defended one pass.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound defensive back signed with Oregon as a three-star (0.8719 per 247Sports Composite) recruit in the 2021 class out of Chula Vista (Calif.) Mater Dei Catholic High School.

He's the second Oregon cornerback to hit the portal this week, with fellow 2021 signee Avante Dickerson announcing his departure on Wednesday as well.

With Barkins entering the transfer portal, just six players remain at Oregon from a 23-man 2021 recruiting class, which is the highest-ranked class in program history.
