Ryan Walk Joins Oregon Coaching Staff as Assistant Offensive Line Coach
Former Oregon Ducks offensive lineman Ryan Walk is returning to Eugene.
Walk will join Dan Lanning's coaching staff as an assistant offensive line coach. The move was first reported by James Crepea of the Oregonian and Walk has since updated his biography on X (formerly known as Twitter) to reflect his return to his home state.
Walk spent the 2023 season on the other side of the country after taking a job under under former Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal's staff at Miami, where he served as an offensive analyst.
The Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon product first joined the Oregon program in 2017 when he walked on to the football team.
He eventually earned a scholarship and developed into one of the best offensive linemen on Oregon's roster, primarily playing guard but having the versatility to snap at center while the team's starter Alex Forsyth was battling back spasms during the 2022 season. Walk ended his Oregon career on a high note and was named a coaches Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention.
The 6-foot-3, 292-pound offensive lineman was also one of 10 semifinalists for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is awarded annually to the top former walk-on player in college football.
Walk will join Alique Terry's offensive line staff alongside long-time coaching veteran Mike Cavanaugh, who joined the Ducks prior to the 2023 season. The former Oregon offensive linemen will join the coaching staff on the heels of assistant offensive line coach Cutter Leftwhich being named the offensive line coach at the University of North Texas after the 2023 season.
Oregon's offensive line will lose Rimington Trophy winner Jackson Powers-Johnson and Steven Jones to the 2024 NFL Draft, but will return Iapani 'Poncho' Laloulu, Josh Conerly Jr., Ajani Cornelius and Marcus Harper II to form what should be a top offensive line nationally once again.
