WATCH: Dan Lanning's Takeaways From Oregon's Second Spring Practice
The Oregon Ducks were back in action on Saturday, holding their second of fifteen spring football practices.
Head coach Dan Lanning met with reporters after practice and provided some updates on a number of topics including his strategy behind scheduling practices and whether or not he's expecting more early enrollees when the team resumes practice in April.
Below you'll find some notable quotes as well as video of Lanning's full press conference.
Opening Statement: "Good second day. We got more reps today. We pushed the tempo of practice. Some fatigue showed up. You want to do that the day before you get a little bit of break. We're about to have some time. You really want to push guy's bodies. You saw that. You see how guys respond to fatigue. It was a good day. It was a good day of work. Guys worked really hard and it was certainly a positive."
Question: Are you expecting more of your enrollees to come in when you guys regroup in April?
Lanning: "We'll see a few more. I don't have an exact number but we'll see a few more guys come back after spring break when the next term starts."
Question: Is that the new norm? I think you're at over 25 new guys right now. (Adding a lot of players as early enrollees)
Lanning: "It's probably the new norm in college football. There's going to continue to be change. Some guys will come some guys will go but we're always going to do everything we can to enhance our program. You want guys here as fast as you can. That's not always gonna happen. There's some guys that we'd love to have here early. But the more you can have here early it's like having an additional redshirt year for guys that are brand new."
Question: How limited are Junior Angilau and Jestin Jacobs?
Lanning: "Junior's limited. Jestin's been able to do really everything with us come spring ball."
Question: What's the strategy of having two practices and then waiting a few weeks?
Lanning: "For us it's about spacing. You like to go Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday for practices. We don't want to go into May because we have a recruiting window in May that we want to be able to get our coaches out in May. More than anything it's timing with where the recruiting windows fall."
