2024 CB Dakoda Fields Announces College Commitment
2024 Gardena (Calif.) Serra cornerback Dakoda Fields has committed to the USC Trojans. He announced his decision on Monday morning following an official visit in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Fields had been working from a top seven that also included Oregon, Cal, Miami, Ohio State, Texas and Washington. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Southern California product becomes the new headliner in USC's 2024 recruiting class, which now ranks No. 30 nationally and and No. 2 in the Pac-12.
The Trojans have six verbal commitments and still have significant ground to make up on Oregon, which boasts the conference's No. 1 class and the No. 7 class in the country.
Oregon was hoping to keep their momentum rolling in Southern California with Fields after signing his teammate Rodrick Pleasant, another talented cornerback, in the 2023 recruiting class.
Fields had been scheduled to take an official visit to Oregon on June 23, but it's fair to speculate that that trip is either off or looking very doubtful.
Demetrice Martin and the Ducks have one verbal commitment at cornerback in the 2024 class in Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy standout Ify Obidegwu, who committed to Oregon last month.
We'll have more on what's next for the Ducks at cornerback with a major target now off the board to a Pac-12 rival.
