2024 OL Jason Zandamela on A'lique Terry, Oregon Interest

Oregon offered Zandamela in January and a trip to Eugene is looking like a strong possibility.
In this story:

When Dan Lanning hired A'lique Terry, his fire on the recruiting trail was something that immediately stood out.

He played a big role in the Ducks recruiting Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 2021 class when he was on the staff under Mario Cristobal and he's gotten right to work since rejoining the Ducks.

One of the players he has his eye on is 2024 interior offensive lineman Jason Zandamela from Clearwater (Fla.) Clearwater International Academy, who was offered by Adrian Klemm.

The 6-foot-3, 286-pound lineman is originally from Mozambique and moved to the U.S. prior to the 2021 season. He spoke with John Garcia Jr. at the Under Armour Next camp in Orlando and has started to build a relationship with Terry at Oregon.

"Coach Terry recently got hired. He's a Florida guy. Spoke to him. I love how he talks. He's very straight up about everything and he's gonna be real with you as well," Zandamela said."

Zandamela hasn't been to Eugene yet but there's clear interest that he'd like to take a visit.

"I really wanna get up there hopefully in the spring, if not maybe I'll set up a date for the OV there."

He's been blowing up on the recruiting trail and there are a handful of other schools standing out from his nearly 30 scholarship offers.

Miami is one of those schools and he's been talking to Ahkeem Mesidor, a defensive lineman for the Canes who also came from Clearwater International.

"He tells me a lot about how they put in the work all day every day," he said. "I really like the fact that coach Cristobal is an O-line guy as well. Not a lot of schools have their head coach working with the O-line."

He's been to Miami before and mentioned he'd like to get back out to Coral Gables in the spring on an unofficial visit.

The standout offensive lineman will take an in-state trip to Tallahassee this week to visit Florida State, the school that could lead for the offensive lineman.

"Coach (Alex) Atkins and Coach (Mike) Norvell are just the most humble coaches I've ever talked to," Zandamela said. "They offered me very early in my recruiting process and that means that they knew my potential and they trusted everything. I really appreciate that from them."

The Florida product added that the Seminoles are the only school that he knows will get an official visit.

USC offered at the end of February and has his attention with an official visit a strong possibility.

"I love USC for sure. I love how (Josh) Henson coaches and I like their scheme a lot. That's the one big thing I also look for in a college their coaching staff and their scheme for sure."

One member of the coaching staff at Oklahoma has the Sooners squarely in the mix as well, with a visit likely this spring.

"(Bill) Bedenbaugh. I love him. I love how he coaches as well. Definitely their scheme too. Classic counter, all that and O-line U. I'm planning on going up there in spring for sure."

Zandamela is as hot as any offensive line recruit in the country right now. He was recently selected to the Adidas All-American Bowl and knows when he'd like to commit.

"I'll be committing before the season. July," he said.
