5-Star Oregon WR Signee Jurrion Dickey Recovering From Injury Ahead of Enrollment
Spring football has come and gone and the Ducks welcomed a lot of new players to campus.
However, one big name that wasn't in Eugene was wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, a five-star signee in Dan Lanning's 2023 recruiting class. He committed to the Ducks as an Adidas All-American in May of last year but part of the reason he didn't enroll was an injury that cut his senior season short.
Dickey transferred from San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian to Atherton (Calif.) Menlo-Atherton for his last year of high school ball, the same school that Oregon's top wide receiver Troy Franklin attended prior to joining the Ducks in 2021.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout played in just four games with the Bears as a senior, but he made a huge impact when he was on the field, finishing the year with 20 catches for 453 yards and 6 touchdowns, averaging 22.7 yards per catch.
His best game of the year was a four-touchdown performance against Bellarmine in the season opener. He turned six passes into 170 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dickey also carried the ball five times for 69 yards and a touchdown on the ground, part of a 285 all-purpose yard outing (According to MaxPreps).
Now, he's making progress in recovering from his injury.
"Second time running routes and hitting the field since October surgery!!" Dickey wrote in a social media post.
The Bay Area star won't return to his five-star form overnight, but it's got to be excited for Duck fans to see him moving again after surgery ahead of his true freshman season.
Dickey was back in Eugene for Oregon's spring game along with more than 100 other recruits. He got to see the Ducks in action and even do some fishing while he was in town.
Oregon's wide receiver room has injected some serious talent this offseason after adding transfers Traeshon Holden and Tez Johnson, who both shined in the spring game. Junior Adams also added Under Armour All-American Ashton Cozart in the 2023 class.
Bo Nix's favorite target Troy Franklin returns, along with Kris Hutson, Kyler Kasper and Justius Lowe. The Ducks are also in the running for USC wide receiver transfer Gary Bryant Jr., who's expected to announce his decision this weekend.
Whether or not they get Bryant, the Ducks have another five-star waiting in the wings that will be on campus soon.
