Logging a New Oregon Football Recruiting Prediction in the 2025 Class

The Ducks look to be the team to beat for another blue-chip talent.

The Oregon Ducks are chasing history once again on the recruiting trail after signing the best class in program history. Their 2024 class was headlined by five-star talents Elijah Rushing (Arizona EDGE) and Gatlin Bair (Idaho wide receiver).

Dan Lanning and his coaching staff have landed five verbal commitments in the 2025 class, with four coming on offense and one on defense.

Today I'm predicting 2025 Pittsburg (Calif.) safety Jadyn Hudson to commit to the Oregon Ducks.

Confidence meter: 7/10

Explaining the pick

I've felt solid about Oregon's chances with Hudson for a while, and after speaking with a source close to this recruitment I'm even more confident Hudson will end up a Duck.

A big part of why Oregon has such a great chance here is the work defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi has put in on the recruiting trail. The Ducks already have one commitment from the East Bay Area this cycle in De La Salle's Matthew Johnson, and they're poised to build on that momentum with Hudson.

I'm not sure what his timeline for a decision is looking like, but I think they're going to be tough to beat here. As long as Dan Lanning and the Ducks continue operating how they are on the field and in the area of talent acquisition, they'll trend as a top destination for elite defensive talent on the West Coast.

Hudson also has family that played college football in Eugene, with safety Erick Dargan, who also went to Pittsburg, playing for the Ducks from 2010 through 2014. I'm sure other schools leverage that, but Oregon really excels at capitalizing on those types of connections.

Oregon identified the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Hudson as a top priority early on in the recruiting cycle and that's positioned them as the team to beat.

Hudson is the second recruit I've predicted to Oregon in the 2025 class, joining Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Preparatory wide receiver Cooper Perry. Oregon's 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 12 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten conference (Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin).
