Aaron Scott Jr., Nation's No. 3 CB, Places Oregon Ducks in Top Five Schools

Aaron Scott Jr. is one of the best in the country and was recently in Eugene for a visit.
In this story:

2024 Springfield (Oh.) cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. is closing in on a decision.

On Thursday the Adidas All-American included Oregon in his top five schools.

The other schools to make the cut included Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and Penn State.

Scott is rated a four-star (0.9600) recruit by 247Sports. The same service ranks him the No. 35 player nationally, the No. 3 cornerback and the top overall recruit in Ohio.

The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback has been busy on the recruiting trail this spring, taking unofficial visits to schools like Oregon, Pitt and Michigan. One of the country's best defensive backs was in Eugene the week leading up to the spring game and has spoken highly of the Ducks during his recruitment.

Demetrice Martin and the Ducks have one cornerback committed in the 2024 class in Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy standout Ify Obidegwu. The coaching staff is also recruiting the likes of Dakoda Fields, Zabien Brown, Chris Johnson Jr. and Miles Lockhart among other cornerbacks.

Torres' Take

Scott is going to be a tough pull out of Ohio as the Ducks go toe-to-toe with the in-state Buckeyes. Ryan Day and company don't lose top out of top talent in their backyard often, and they've probably got a bitter taste in their mouth after seeing Cincinatti (Oh.) Archbishop Moeller running back Jordan Marshall pledge to the Michigan Wolverines in March.

Scott is a very gifted player and the Ducks look like they're going to be in the running until the end. That said, I don't view them as the leader right now, and they'll need to make a big impression during his official visit to have a serious chance.

That's not necessarily bad news. Scott is talented, but Oregon is recruiting plenty of other skilled cornerbacks and can afford to be selective after adding seven total cornerbacks since the end of the 2022 season.
