Brandon Baker, 5-Star Offensive Tackle, Announces Final Five Schools
2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive tackle Brandon Baker is closing in on a decision, as he's set to commit later this month on September 24.
On Sunday afternoon, the elite offensive lineman announced his final five schools, including the Oregon Ducks.
The other schools in contention for the five-star recruit are the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Texas Longhorns, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Florida State Seminoles.
Baker is rated a five-star (0.9885) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 21 player nationally, the No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 2 recruit in the state of California.
The 6-foot-5, 290-pound mauler has one visit planned before making his commitment on September 24, and that's an official visit to Lincoln, Nebraska on September 16 to check see Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers. The biggest development on the Baker front came last week, when he was predicted to commit to the Texas Longhorns by Inside Texas writers Gerry Hamilton and Justin Wells of On3's Texas site.
Baker has been to Eugene to see the Ducks probably more than any other school, but all of those trips have been of the unofficial visit variety. He's been a priority target for offensive line coach A'lique Terry since he was hired, who's certainly put in the work, keeping daily contact with the Southern California product.
With a commitment set for September 24, it appears on the surface that Oregon is fading for the best offensive lineman on the West Coast, with their final chance likely being to get him back on campus for an official visit. Any way you slice it, time is running out.
