Brayden Platt Breaks Down Oregon Commitment
Oregon Football got some good news on Monday evening when 2024 Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt held up a slice of green cake, signaling his commitment to Dan Lanning and the Ducks to play his college football.
He's the third four-star linebacker to commit to Oregon this cycle and broke down his decision with 247Sports' Director of Recruiting on the 247Sports YouTube channel.
For Platt, his decision came down to what he was seeing in Dan Lanning's vision for the program and the direction of Duck Football.
"What excites me most is the winning culture that they're bringing with Coach Lanning coming from Georgia and winning a natty there," Platt said on Monday. "I think that they can do really good this year with their first recruiting class being able to recruit."
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker built a lot of strong relationships with the coaching staff in Eugene during his recruitment, but the ones built with defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi and director of scouting Tyler Dean are among those that stand out most.
"Coach Lupoi is a really nice coach and he also has great energy. Tyler definitely played a huge part. He showed us how Oregon's like a family."
Oregon beat out one of the most storied programs in college football to earn Platt's pledge, as Dan Lanning and company scored a major recruiting win over Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners.
So what set the Ducks apart?
"For me the deciding factor was the family culture cause I know that they could both develop, me but in the end it really came down to the culture and how I would be raised not only as an athlete but also as a person," Platt said.
Oregon's recruiting class ranks No. 11 in the 2024 cycle according to 247Sports and should continue to climb if the Ducks can land some of their top remaining targets like Brandon Baker, Aydin Breland and Sione Laulea.
