The four-star passer announced a new group of finalists on Friday including Oregon, Penn State and Maryland.

This is significant recruiting news for Will Stein and Oregon as they look for their quarterback in the 2024 class. Van Buren was just on campus in Eugene last weekend and the Ducks look like they're certainly strengthened their standing with one of the top uncommitted quarterbacks.

Penn State is the heavy 247Sports Crystal Ball leader, holding four predictions as of Friday afternoon.

The Ducks are also recruiting other St. Frances standouts including 2024 cornerback Ify Obidegwu, 2025 defensive lineman Trent Wilson and 2025 athlete Peyton Nelson.

The timing of this news is notable for the Ducks as they're the heavy favorites to land 2024 Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback Luke Moga, who has set a commitment date of Friday April 28. If Moga ends up choosing the Ducks, they'll find themselves in an interesting spot.

With Bo Nix playing his last college season in 2023, Will Stein and Dan Lanning probably want to sign two quarterbacks in the 2024 class. Could that be Moga and Van Buren? Or maybe Moga and a transfer portal quarterback?

Only time will tell, but the quarterback dominoes continue to fall in the 2024 class and the Ducks are poised to go on a serious recruiting run to close out the month with multiple top targets expected to visit for the spring game.
