5-Star Quarterback Dylan Raiola Sets Oregon Visit
Things are heating up on the recruiting trail.
While we're still in the early part of March, the February dead period is over and recruits across the country are taking visits, committing to schools and setting up their visits for the spring and summer.
On Wednesday 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong reported that Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle quarterback Dylan Raiola will take a trip to Eugene for Oregon's spring game, which is scheduled for April 29. The report also notes visits to Georgia Tech and Georgia the weekend of March 18 as well as a return visit to Nebraska on March 25.
Raiola isn't a name that needs much introduction but in case you don't know who he is, he's a special player.
He's a consensus five-star recruit and is the nation's No. 1 player on three of the four major recruiting services (On3 No. 6). Standing at 6'3", 225-pounds, he's been a national recruit for quite some time and he recently transferred from Chandler (Ariz.) High School to Pinnacle, the same school as South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler and 2023 tight end Duce Robinson, the nation's top uncommitted recruit.
Raiola has been linked to Oregon since his first trip to Eugene nearly a year ago. Lately the talk has been that the All-American quarterback has been heavily considering Oregon, USC, Nebraska and Georgia.
He his first visit out of the dead period was to USC last weekend and he was recently at Nebraska, his father's alma mater, for a basketball game. The Trojans appear to be in the driver's seat after Georgia previously held some momentum in this recruitment.

As for Oregon, new offensive coordinator Will Stein looks to continue his ascension as a talented young coach on the recruiting trail after flipping Dripping Springs (Tex.) quarterback Austin Novosad from Baylor to Oregon when he was hired by Dan Lanning.
The Ducks have five commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, including a top offensive tackle on the West Coast (Fox Crader) and two elite wide receivers in Jordan Anderson and Tyseer Denmark, which could help Oregon make a strong pitch.
College football's elite do a majority of their heavy lifting on the recruiting trail during the spring and summer months, and having Raiola in town for the spring game--Oregon's marquee recruiting event--will only help them make their case with commits and other elite talent sure to flock to Eugene.
It's still early in the 2024 cycle, but the Ducks aren't wasting any time planning for the future and getting their quarterback in the fold sooner rather than later.
