Dylan Williams and Long Beach Poly Capture Moore League Title
2024 Long Beach (Calif.) Poly linebacker Dylan Williams committed to Oregon in July.
In the time since he's put together a strong senior season and on Thursday, he and the Jackrabbits captured a Moore League title with a 56-14 win over the Long Beach Jordan Panthers.
Ducks Digest was on the scene to get the latest with one of the Ducks' top commits.
"Man it was a great game. I feel like honestly they ran away from the whole game. But what do you expect from the other team?" he said. "I got a chance to get in at tight end and got a lot of reps blocking with few routes. I'm just blessed to be able to play with my Poly teammates it's truly a blessing. It's been a long ride and I love it here."
Williams had a touchdown catch that was ruled incomplete, and spoke about playing a little bit of offense.
"I played a little bit of tight end last year, but we didn't get to go that far. I didn't start playing until this time last year. Jordan game last year. So last game of the season, first round of playoffs and we lost so I didn't really get a lot of chance to showcase my skill at tight end."
Winning the Moore league was a goal for Williams heading into his senior year, but he's got bigger fish to fry.
"Blessings, man. Glad to finish out my senior year a Moore league champion, get a chance to put my name on the wall for something," the four-star linebacker said. "But the goal has always been to win state and bring Poly back, so that's what I'm looking for right now."
The Southern California standout is committed to Dan Lanning and the Ducks, but continues to be recruited by a number of big-time programs.
"Yeah Miami, Utah, Penn State. Michigan State is in there heavy, UCLA and there's a few schools."
As was the case earlier this fall, Williams reaffirmed his commitment and is looking forward to enrolling early.
"But I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm 100% a Duck lock. I'll be enrolling early, so I'll be on campus January 6 getting ready to hopefully get bigger, faster, stronger so I can compete for a spot.
"We're losing a few key pieces this year, so I just want an opportunity to be able to compete. The coaches felt like that would be a heavy stepping stone for me to get a chance is come early."

The future Oregon linebacker has been impressed with the Ducks' defense this year and is especially excited to team up with one player at the next level.
"I'm excited to play with Matayo Uiagalelei. He's a dog on the D-line. Jeffrey Bassa, amazing leader. Scoob (Jamal Hill)--backer corps is amazing right now but you know we got a lot of people leaving.
"Cole Martin, I can't wait to play with him. Can't wait to be reunited with Daylen (Austin) and probably Rodrick Pleasant. I can't wait to play with him. We got my guys coming in with me in my 24 class so I'm just excited man."
The Ducks head to Salt Lake City for a big game against No. 13 Utah this weekend and he gave his thoughts on the matchup.
"It's gonna be a crazy game, but I just feel like we're gonna come out and compete. Utah gonna come out and compete," Williams said. "I truly think Oregon is gonna come out with a win, not trying to be arrogant or anything. I know how them guys prepare up there in Eugene."
How about a score prediction?
"Maybe a defensive game. 28-14, something like that. My Ducks."
Williams is trying to schedule one more trip to Eugene before he enrolls at Oregon.
"USC game, yes sir. Trying to get me and my Mom, me and my Dad are trying to get up for sure for that game. Just get back on campus one more time as a recruit before I gotta go up in a month, in a few weeks. It's gonna be time to lock in."
He wrapped up the interview by mentioning one player he's peer recruiting to join him at Oregon.
"Nathaniel Frazier. I'm on him heavy. I'm on him heavy. We need our running back 1."
