Issac Wilson Updates Recruitment at Elite 11
Over the weekend some of the best quarterbacks made their way out to Los Angeles to compete in the Elite 11 regional, hoping to earn an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in the summer.
Draper (UT) Corner Canyon quarterback Isaac Wilson was one of my top performers from the event, showcasing his arm talent and mobility during drills.
"It was good," he said after the event. "The weather was great at the start not gonna lie. Towards the end it got a little windy, but still trying to rip it through the wind."
The 6-foot, 166-pound quarterback has been able to track some trips lately and got to see a pair of in-state programs.
"I was at BYU last week and Utah. I just love the atmosphere at both those places," Wilson said. "I was at Arizona, Arizona State the week before that. I really like the coaches down there too. Jedd Fisch and Coach Dillingham. They're great guys."
Wilson's recruitment has mainly consisted of Pac-12 programs, but he said he's been hearing a good amount from a big program in the Big-12.
"Utah and BYU are reaching out," he said about schools recruiting him hardest. "I love Arizona, Arizona State. Oklahoma State, always keeping in touch with them. Oregon State. Some great schools, but mostly them."
He holds an Oregon offer but isn't hearing from the Ducks much since Will Stein replaced Kenny Dillingham as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
"I was. Not too much anymore. I was talking to them a lot when Dillingham was there and (Mario) Cristobal, but not as much with the new offensive coordinator."
Looking ahead he knows one school will definitely get an official visit as he works on filling out his spring visit schedule.
"I have an official visit scheduled on April 22 to Utah. I'll be scheduling more soon," Wilson said. "But not top sure where I'm going just yet, I just know for sure Utah."
It's looking like the top quarterback Utah wants to make his college commitment before his senior season.
"I'm trying to get it done before season, during summer time, during spring time in between there," Wilson said of a decision timeline. "As soon as I can get my mind right and get the school that really wants me most I'll make my commitment."
He's looking at the whole picture as he works to find his next home.
"I'm looking for a school that really cares about me as a person as a man, really wants to develop me. My main goal in the end is to make it to the NFL of course. I want them to prep me for that and not only that, just to become a better person. I want a higher powered offense, something that can really show me off."
Wilson has a unique advantage in the recruiting process as his older brother Zach Wilson plays for the New York Jets and shares lessons from when he was in Isaac's shoes.
"He just has insight to it all. He went through college. He's going through the same thing I'm going through so I could ask him anything," Isaac said of how his brother helps him with his recruitment. "He's been to the NFL. He gets to see the highest of players do it. Just having him by my side to give me little tips along the way I think it helps me shoot farther ahead than most."
Isaac Wilson is excited to continue putting Utah football on the map during his senior year.
"It's slowly coming up. I feel like it's a little underrated," he said of Utah football.
"We put out a lot more players than people think. We can show that off a little bit better but this is only our second year playing out of state teams. We're going to be playing Bishop Gorman this year, hopefully we can show people what Utah football is all about."
