Oregon Cornerback Target Trey Amos Announces Transfer Destination

One of Oregon's top transfer portal targets has made his decision.
In this story:

Former Louisiana Lafayette cornerback Trey Amos has announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

It took Amos just over a week to find a new home after entering the transfer portal on May 1.

Demetrice Martin and the Ducks got involved with an offer, and Amos was one of the most sought after cornerbacks in the portal. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound defensive back took visits to LSU and Alabama prior to making his commitment, and a source told Ducks Digest that a trip to Eugene was in the works, but now the Ducks have missed out.

It's not all bad news for Oregon though, as the Ducks added five cornerbacks from the high school ranks in the 2023 recruiting class including a trio of All-Americans in Cole Martin, Daylen Austin and Rodrick Pleasant. They also added Alabama transfer cornerback Khyree Jackson, who had a strong spring and looks like one of if not the top option to replace Christian Gonzalez from a season ago now that he's off to the NFL.

Returners Dontae Manning and Trikweze Bridges looked strong in the spring game as well and figure to be heavily involved in 2023.

An influx of talent along the edge from the transfer portal and high school rankings should not only improve the pass rush we see from Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi's defense in 2023, but also the overall passing defense.

The Ducks open the 2023 season with a home matchup in Eugene against the Portland State Vikings before heading to Lubbock to face former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
