Luke Moga Sets Commitment Date

The 2024 Oregon QB target out of Arizona is expected back on campus before making his decision.

One of Oregon's top quarterback targets in the 2024 class is winding down his recruitment.

Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback Luke Moga has set a commitment date of April 28.

He'll make his college commitment from a final six. That group includes Oregon, Miami, TCU, BYU, Michigan State and Arizona State.

Moga's recruitment boomed in the new year, reeling in offers from across the country. He now sits at 25 reported scholarship offers.

Standing 6'2" and weighing 190 pounds, he is rated a three-star (0.8759) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 582 player nationally, the No. 33 quarterback and the No. 12 recruit in Arizona.

The Arizona quarterback was in Eugene back in January and he landed an offer from new offensive coordinator Will Stein shortly after that trip.

Moga told Ducks Digest that he plans on making a return trip to Oregon on April 22, the weekend before his commitment.

Following his trip to Oregon in January he spoke very highly of the Ducks and the vision Dan Lanning has for his program.

"They want to win and they want to do it with the best players in the country from all over no matter what," Moga said. "And they want to do it with great people on their staff too."

Torres' Take

Moga setting a commitment date right now is interesting for a couple reasons. First of all is the obvious; he told me that he's going to be in Eugene the week before he makes a decision. Reading between the lines it would certainly look like the Ducks lead here.

I definitely get the feel Oregon leads and Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports placed a crystal ball prediction for Moga to end up at Oregon Tuesday morning.

Furthermore, Michael Van Buren, another quarterback the Ducks would love to add in 2024, set his commitment date for July 8 and will be visiting Oregon this weekend. Penn State looks to be the leader there but maybe the Ducks can shake that one up.

This makes me wonder. Would the Ducks be open to taking two quarterbacks this cycle? This is a very top heavy class at quarterback and Oregon seems to be fading with Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 player in the country.

Aside from Raiola and Van Buren, the only other blue-chip (top 150) quarterback the Ducks are in the picture with is Elijah Brown out of Mater Dei. The last time I talked to him it didn't sound like Oregon was very involved.

Taking Moga and quarterback out of the portal could be a good move for Oregon as they need to plan for life after Bo Nix. If the Ducks do land Moga, it'll be interesting to see how they manage that room with Ty Thompson currently being the projected starter in 2024.
