The Latest in Luke Moga's Surging Recruitment

The Ducks are a recent offer for one of the fastest rising prospects out West.

The Oregon Ducks are hard at work looking for their quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class. One player that was recently in Eugene was Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback Luke Moga, who earned an offer from Will Stein and company shortly after that trip.

He spoke with Ducks Digest to provide the latest in his recruitment as he's earned 14 scholarship offers since the start of the new year.

The 6-foot-2, 196-pound passer has been to the state of Oregon to see family in Bend, but last month's trip was his first time in Eugene. During the trip he spent most of his time with head coach Dan Lanning and offensive coordinator Will Stein.

"Coach Lanning is super down to earth and I appreciate that. He's a cool dude," Moga said. "He's kind of got a calm swagger to him too, which I like and I think you need in a head coach."

Moga also connected well with Stein, who looks to parlay success at UTSA into a high-scoring offense at Oregon.

"Coach Stein, just being there a few weeks is awesome. He's really fitting in well and I think that's a place I could see myself at and his success at UTSA will definitely translate to Oregon."

Even though Oregon is a newer school in his recruitment, he's been on the radar for a bit, thanks in part to numerous Arizona connections on the coaching and recruiting staffs.

"I like Coach Kam (Araghi) too. He's a defensive analyst and Coach (Jordan) Somerville. There's a lot of guys from AZ, I know you probably saw some of that stuff out there 'Desert Ducks', there's a lot of AZ boys going through there too. It was awesome to build that AZ dynamic with those guys."

Moga likes the interest he's getting from the Ducks and was impressed by a number of aspects during the visit and left Eugene with some key takeaways.

"Everyone talks about the facilities, but there's nice facilities everywhere and Oregon is the best in the country," he said. "But I don't even think that's a talking point, those speak for themselves. Just the campus and all the resources outside of football and inside of football I really liked."

His favorite part of the visit was getting to spend time with the staff, who sent a strong message about what they're trying to build.

"They want to win and they want to do it with the best players in the country from all over no matter what," Moga said. "And they want to do it with great people on their staff too."

Aside from his recent trip to Oregon the talented quarterback was busy prior to the dead period beginning this month, taking visits to Oregon State, Miami, Arizona State, Arizona and BYU.

He didn't want to name specific schools, but has a rough idea of where he'd like to get out to see in the future.

"You can go along with a few SEC and then hit some Pac-12's and ACC schools."

Moga added that he doesn't have a commitment timeline but that he does plan on trimming down a growing number of offers soon.

"I think I'm going to narrow it down in the next month or two. I don't have a timeline right now."
