Nyckoles Harbor Announces College Commitment

Oregon hosted Harbor for his final official visit the weekend prior to National Signing Day.

The top remaining recruit in the 2023 recruiting class has made his decision.

Nyckoles Harbor of Washington D.C. Archbishop Carroll High School announced his commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Wednesday.

Harbor hadn't released a top group of schools since last May, but schools like Oregon, Maryland and Michigan were all making a run at the country's No. 1 athlete leading up to national signing day.

Dan Lanning and the Ducks made perhaps the strongest late push as a newer school in the mix down the home stretch. Oregon's head football coach and track coaches visited Harbor in Washington D.C. while coaches were across the country conducting in-home visits.

The Ducks earned the final official visit for Harbor, but it looks like the trip wasn't enough to seal the deal. Oregon's world-class track program, Hayward Field, Nike family and promising football team weren't enough to lure the 6-foot-6, 240-pound recruit across the country to Eugene.

Despite missing out on Harbor Oregon was able to land a big commitment from Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra cornerback Rodrick Pleasant, who pledged to the Ducks over the hometown USC Trojans.

Now that he's signed and headed to Columbia Harbor joins Shane Beamer's South Carolina class as the new headliner in a group that's ranked No. 16 in the 2023 cycle by 247Sports.
