It's never too early for recruiting right?

It's a growing trend that we're seeing more and more of in college football recruiting. Schools across the country extending scholarship offers to top up-and-comers before they even start playing their high school ball.

On Wednesday, Oregon extended an offer to 2027 West Linn (Ore.) cornerback Josiah Molden, who's currently in eighth grade.

He's the son of Alex Molden, one of the best defensive backs to ever play for Oregon, donning the green and yellow from 1991-1995.

While in Eugene, Alex Molden started all four years and led the Ducks to appearances in the Rose Bowl and Cotton Botton Bowl. He was first-team all-conference twice and was named a first-team All-American as a senior. Molden also holds the school record for pass breakups with 60 and his 11 interceptions are tied for eighth all-time.

As for his son, Josiah, the 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back has already made a name for himself as one of the state's premier players despite his youth, playing 7on7 this spring with Eforce Showtime.

The third Molden, Elijah, is currently playing cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, who selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He too was recruited by the Ducks out of West Linn in the class of 2017, but eventually signed with the Washington Huskies and played his college football on Montlake.

Wednesday's offer shows Oregon isn't wasting any time trying to keep the best players in state.
