Oregon Staying Involved With 5-Star DL Aydin Breland

The Ducks are continuing to pursue players that can take their defensive line to the next level.
In this story:

Oregon's haul along the defensive line is off to a great start in 2024 with commitments from Florissant (Mo.) Hazelwood Central DL Tionne Gray and Yuma (Ariz.) Yuma Catholic EDGE Jaxson Jones.

But the staff is swinging for the fences with more big names including 2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout Aydin Breland

Breland is rated a 5-Star (0.9800 per 247Sports) recruit and ranked the No. 25 player on the top 247. He's ranked the No. 4 defenisve lineman in the country and the No. 2 recruit in California by 247Sports.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive lineman has tripped all over the country as a national recruit but most recently made it out to Georgia and Nebraska.

Now the top defensive lineman on the West Coast has another big trip on the schedule.

"I will be at Tennessee the 26th through 28th of this month and as of right now there are no more trips scheduled," he told Ducks Digest at Mater Dei's Spring Showcase Thursday.

Breland has more 24 reported scholarship offers and plans to trim his list down soon as the summer looms.

"I'll be coming out with a top ten really soon," he said. "Like really, really, really soon."

The summer is a pivotal time on the recruiting trail and he plans to use that time for official visits.

"After that I'm gonna be releasing official visits once we get all those scheduled and figured out."

The towering Southern California product is starting to get a good feel for his top schools and updated his decision timeline.

"I'm looking to be committed by the end of summer, beginning of senior season."

The Ducks are in contention for elite defensive linemen like Jordan Ross (AL), Williams Nwaneri (MO) and David Stone (FL) but they aren't forgetting about one of the best trench talents out west in Breland.

"I talk to them pretty frequently," he said. "I talk to Coach Tony (Tuioti) and Coach Tosh (Lupoi) and Coach Dan Lanning. I talk to them throughout the week all the time. It's pretty constant."

The man in charge of Oregon Football is part of what has his attention and what stands out most.

"Just Dan Lanning. How genuine the coaching staff is--all real good, real family feels up there. I love Eugene, love the area and the ambiances and all the greenery around there. I love Eugene."
