Evaluation
Purchase is as physical as he is athletic. He played a mix of both the interior and exterior of the defensive line during his senior campaign, but mostly stayed at his true edge spot.
His get off speed mixed with his use of hands to shuck offensive linemen help get him into the backfield with ease. If the ball was on the opposite side of the field Purchase found a way to get there as well. He has an itch to get where he's supposed to be and do it in a hurry.
His long strides and quickness make his 240 pounds look like feather weight. He mainly played as a stand-up lineman even in the interior but still managed to be the lower man to make multiple plays in the backfield.
Purchase was named 2022 Colorado Gatorade High School Football Player of the year in early December. He finished his senior year with 57 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, eight pass deflections and a forced fumble.
The recruitment, how it happened
Purchase began earning his first offers at the end of his sophomore season between 2020 and 2021. Those schools included Colorado, Oregon State, Iowa State and USC.
Being the No. 1 player in Colorado came with its perks as Purchase really could have played anywhere he wanted. After getting a few more offers under his belt he took a few unofficial visits to Iowa State, USC and Colorado.
Oregon offered on March 2, 2022. Towards the start of his senior season, he took all of his official visits in June to Oklahoma, Iowa State, Cal, Oregon and Washington.
Purchase narrowed his finalists to a final five of Oregon, Colorado, Iowa State, Washington and Notre Dame. He committed to the Ducks on September 6, 2022 and was heavily pursued by Deion Sanders after he was hired at Colorado. After a short delay he would end up signing with the Ducks in December.

Outlook at Oregon
Oregon was able to sign 11 players along the defensive lineman/edge in 2023, including former South Carolina standout Jordan Burch from the transfer portal.
Oregon also signed Matayo Uiagalelei, Teitum Tuioti and Jaeden Moore, who all will be added to depth chart for next season.
Oregon brings back a ton of talent from last season along the defensive line. Names include Brandon Dorlus, Casey Rogers, Popo Aumavae and Taki Taimani. Mase Funa will also make his return next season with momentum leaning his way going into the spring.
Purchase, along with the others listed above, are in a good spot come fall camp to potentially make some noise. They all have elite talent that can could help them see the field sooner rather than later.
