Oregon Football Signee Spotlight: Edge Teitum Tuioti
Today we'll be taking a look at a recruit who really didn't need to do much traveling to find his home for the next few years. Sheldon's Teitum Tuioti, an edge rusher in the 2023 class will be looking to make a name for himself at Oregon.
Height/Weight: 6’3”/220 pounds
-Hometown/High School: Laie, Hawaii/Sheldon High School (Ore.)
-Distinction: Polynesian Bowl All-Star
Evaluation
Turning on film and seeing someone with as much fire as Tuioti had on the field rally gets anyone excited. On his senior film he shared his best plays at his edge position while also helping on offense as a Tight end- Y Back.
The first few plays that were shown was him meeting the running backs directly in the backfield from the opposite side of the field. His tall frame with his speed is complimented by his physical strength.

He really sticks out from the rest of his opponents on the film as it looked like he was doing everything. Playing on the edge allowed him to also drop back into a quick coverage, which he also excelled at.
When a pulling guard meets Tuioti across the line of scrimmage it ultimately ended with him taking down the guard while also making the tackle. His pursuit angles are also very impressive with his straight-line speed down the line of scrimmage.
The recruitment, how it happened
Tuioti began to bring in his first six offers within a two-month period during his sophomore year. Those schools included Boise State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Washington State, Utah State and Washington.
The Ducks first offered the edge defender on January 15, 2022.
He took a official visit to Nebraska and an unofficial to Oregon State among other schools. Nebraska came in recruiting Tuioti hard and seemed like they would be the school to snag the No. 2 player in Oregon.
He would visit Oregon two times in May and June of the same year following the previous visits. A week and some change later Tuioti committed to Oregon. He signed in December and took part in Oregon’s bowl game practice in December as an early enrollee.

Outlook at Oregon
The edge position at Oregon really is anyone’s game. With DJ Johnson heading to the NFL Draft that leaves a huge gap to fill.
Mase Funa made his announcement that he will return for his fifth season as a Duck after the Holiday Bowl. Brandon Dorlus, who moves around between the interior and exterior of the line has also made a return announcement for next season.
The Ducks signed five-star Matayo Uiagalelei as well, who was ranked the No. 7 EDGE in the country. Four-Star Blake Purchase and three-star Jaden Moore have also signed with the Ducks. Moore is on campus and Purchase has signed his national letter of intent.
Oregon also got veteran help from the portal with Jordan Burch joining the program. Burch was the No. 3 defender at South Carolina with 60 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Tuioti is in a good spot to make some noise with already having some early experience during bowl season and now getting ready for spring ball. He has great potential to grow within his position group and can earn some playing time with a strong spring.
