Oregon recently hosted 2024 athlete Jaylen Sumlin for a visit and he gives the latest.
In this story:

Tons of recruits have been making their way out to Eugene to visit Oregon Football this spring.

2024 Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon ATH Jaylen Sumlin is one of those recruits. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder holds an Oregon offer and spoke with Ducks Digest about the trip.

Q: What were some highlights from your Oregon visit?

Sumlin: "The highlights were me seeing the weight room and really all of the facilities. All of the facilities were crazy. It was unexplainable really. The campus was great, seeing where the students hang out, the housing. Talking to the coaches, that was a real big highlight. Talking to Coach Meat, Coach Lanning."

Q: Tell me about some of the relationships you've been able to build at Oregon.

Sumlin: "Coach Meat, he's actually the coach that offered me and he's from the L.A. area. We talk all the time. He's coached a lot of my coaches. I have a good relationship with him. Dan Lanning came out to see me in January and that was my first time meeting him. Ever since then we've been having good conversations. The new safeties coach, Coach Hampton, he's a funny guy. I really liked having a conversation with him."

Q: What kind of impression did Oregon make on you during the trip?

Sumlin: "It was a very good first impression. Growing up I always heard about Oregon and for me to actually go there and see what the hype was about--it really did live up to its hype. It was amazing. It was different."

Q: Where does Oregon stand in your recruitment?

Sumlin: "They're definitely very high. They're definitely high on my list."

Q: What schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?

Sumlin: "I'm hearing a lot from Oregon State, Washington, Boston College, UCLA, Washington State and Oregon as well."

Q: What trips do you have coming up?

Sumlin: "I know I'm going to Oregon State April 22. I think I'm also going to visit Washington State I just don't know the date yet."

Q: What's your thinking with official visits?

Sumlin: "I'm gonna start taking them around May or early June because I want to commit during the summer or before the season for sure."

Q: What schools do you feel like are in a good spot to get official visits?

Sumlin: "I would say Washington. Washington has a good spot. Utah does have a good spot and Oregon. Those three have a good spot of me going to an official there."
